Privacy Policy for Litepad
This Privacy Policy describes how miramiao (“we”, “us”; www.miramiao.com) handles your information when you use Litepad (“the app”), a text and code editor for Mac.
The short version
We do not collect, store, or receive any of your data. Litepad has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no servers of ours. Your files and notes stay on your Mac.
Your files and folders
Litepad can only open the files and folders you choose in the Open panel, drag onto it, or open with it from Finder. To reopen them next time, it keeps a bookmark on your Mac. Scratch notes are saved in a folder on your Mac that you can change in Settings. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Network use
Litepad itself does not contact us. It connects to the network only when you ask it to:
- Git — when you push or pull, Litepad talks to the remote repository you configured, such as your own Git server. That service may log the request under its own policy.
- Markdown preview — if a Markdown file refers to an image on the web, the preview loads that image from the site that hosts it.
Tools on your Mac
Code navigation and formatting can use command-line tools already installed on your Mac (for example a Go language server or a formatter). Litepad runs them locally through a small helper script that you allow once in a Finder panel. The text is handed to those tools on your Mac and is not sent to us.
Summon shortcut
The global shortcut that brings Litepad forward is registered with macOS as a single key combination. Litepad does not monitor or record what you type in other apps, and it does not need Accessibility access.
Purchases
If you buy Litepad Pro, the transaction is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not see or store your payment details.
Keeping and deleting your data
Everything Litepad creates is stored only on your Mac. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Your own files stay where you saved them. To remove Litepad’s settings and scratch notes, delete the app and its folder in ~/Library/Containers/com.miramiao.litepad.
Tracking
The app does not track you and does not share data with other companies for advertising or analytics.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and because we collect no data, we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
